The Brazilian government officially announced the city of Santa Gertrudes, in the State of São Paulo, as the National Capital of Ceramics and Flooring and Coatings.
The production of coatings in Santa Gertrudes began in the 1920s and 1930s, with the discovery of a wide variety of minerals in the city's soil, including clay. Over time, new technologies were developed, modernizing the process of obtaining and treating raw materials, making the city a reference in the production of coatings.
It is important to highlight that Brazil is a global reference in the ceramic tile sector, being the third largest producer and consumer of the product, in addition to occupying the sixth position among exporters, with sales to more than 110 countries.
Currently, Santa Gertrudes accounts for 65% of all ceramic tile production in Brazil.
