According to an article published by the Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry (CBIC), the construction sector once again showed positive performance in job creation in the country. The Ministry of Labor released, this Wednesday (28), the data from the new Caged (General Registry of Employed and Unemployed Persons) for the month of April, and construction appears again as one of the sectors that generated the most jobs in the period, with 34,295 new jobs with signed contracts.
According to the analysis by CBIC economist Ieda Vasconcelos, the number represents an increase of 53.16% compared to March, when 22,392 jobs were created, and a growth of 10.20% compared to April 2024, which had registered 31,122 new jobs.
“The results continue to demonstrate the strength of construction in generating employment and income in the country,” highlighted Ieda. She highlights that, with April's performance, the sector accumulates 135,202 new formal jobs in the first four months of 2025.
Currently, the number of workers with a formal employment contract in the construction industry reaches 2,992,877 people, according to a survey by the economist. “We are just over seven thousand new jobs away from reaching three million formal workers,” he emphasized.
In the division by segments, data from Caged shows that job creation was led by Building Construction, with 16,933 vacancies. Next come Infrastructure Works, which accounted for 9,487 new positions, and Specialized Construction Services, with 7,875 vacancies.
Ieda Vasconcelos estimates that, if this pace is maintained, the construction industry should reach the historic milestone of three million workers with formal employment contracts in the country next month. “If we continue to record these positive results, next month we will surpass this milestone, which is so significant for the sector and for Brazil,” he stated.
